This is a vintage large brimmed woven hat by the famous milliner label of Leslie James. This hat is woven of a shiny glossy black MOD straw like material and is accented with a plush black velvet ribbon and bow. I could see The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel strutting down the avenue in it! This hat was made for Marshall Fields & Co. Only the finest department stores carried this brand of hats. The Leslie James label was known to be one of the most sought after milliners around. The company was based in Los Angeles and designed hats for many movie stars. Leslie James was actually not a woman but 2 men who became partners in the 1930's. James Druce who died in 1956 and ran the business side of the millinery house while Leslie Masters was the creative force behind the label. They combined both their names and their talents to become famous for the design and quality of their hats. These hats are highly collectible even today. Style is best described as a boater hat.

This hat came from the estate of a 98 yr. old hat collector who had amazing taste and lovingly stored and cared for her hats and garments. Remains in original hat box. Grosgrain ribbon lines the interior

CONDITION: Very Very Good. No tears, stains or obvious signs of wear. Exceptional condition considering its age. Previous owner was a collector and it shows! Clean inside and out.

Yes we will, but please note that the buyer is responsible for shipping costs and the item must be received by us in the same condition as it was originally purchased. Upon receipt in same condition we will refund purchase price only. It is extremely rare that customers have an issue with one of our items but rest assured if you do - we are responsive. If you have an issue please contact us immediately via conversations or email and we will make every attempt to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

Do we offer local pick up?

Absolutely! If you live in our area we will make arrangements for customers who have prepaid for items to pick them up and rebate any shipping charges!

We will only accept a cancellation within an hour of placing order.
